Rooms are normally available by 2.00 pm. If you arrive early it is unlikely your room would be ready but you are welcome to store your luggage while you wait.
We request that on your day of departure you vacate your room by 10.00 am.
Breakfast is available every morning in College and is served in Upper Hall between 7.30 am to 9.30 am Monday to Friday, and between 8.00 am to 10.00 am on Saturday and Sunday. Upper Hall is located on the 1st floor level through the staircase entrance next to E staircase (on the right hand side as you look at the buildings). On some occasions, breakfast may be served in Hall – the Porters will inform you of this when you arrive at Christ’s.
If you are attending a conference at Christ’s please check the meal times and location on your conference itinerary.
If you are arriving late or during your stay you intend to return to College late in the evening the Great Gate at the St Andrew’s Street Porters’ Lodge will be open until 11.30 pm.
After this time you will need to ring the door bell on the left hand side of the gate and the porter will open the gate for you. The Porters’ Lodge is staffed 24 hours per day. The day porters will be able to assist you during the working day and the night porters are available, in case of an emergency, throughout the night. The Porters’ Lodge number in the event of an emergency is 01223 334900.
These are not provided but can be obtained from either the newsagent on King Street or from shops in the centre of Cambridge (WH Smith is located in Market Street).
Christ’s College is an institute of learning and many of the buildings are occupied by our resident Fellows. We therefore ask you to respect their privacy.
We also request that you do not walk across the lawns in First and Second Court. The Fellows Garden is generally open Monday to Friday. Members of the public are welcome to explore the gardens.
Bicycles are not permitted in the Courts and must be brought into College via the Hobson Street gate. Bicycle storage is available for use by guests and is located in the Hobson Street car park or at the back of the Stevenson Building. Bicycles may not be left at the Great Gate. This is reserved for Fellows.
The College Gyp rooms are facilities offered to students during their long residential stay. Please refrain from using these rooms during your stay.
The Buttery Bar is open most days during the out of term period. It is closed for a short period in August for staff holidays. Guests are welcome to use this facility.
There is a laundry facility located in the basement of P Staircase with washing and ironing facilities. (Washing powder is not provided). The washers and dryers are coin operated.
The Washing Machines cost £1 per wash and can take 20p's or £1 coin. The dryers cost 10p for every 8 minutes can take 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 or £2 coins.
The laundry is available for use between 3.00 pm and 9.00 pm.

The Tourist Information Centre is located on Wheeler Street.
You are requested to familiarise yourself with the College Fire Regulations – these are found on either the bedroom or wardrobe door. Should the fire alarm sound – a continuous ringing bell – please make your way to the nearest FIRE EXIT as quickly as possible. Do not stop to collect your belongings.
The Porters’ Lodge, located at the front of the College' is manned 24 hours a day. Should you need either medical or other assistance, they can be contacted on 01223 334900.
